Anson commanded the fleet that defeated the French Admiral de la Jonquière at the First Battle of Cape Finisterre during the War of the Austrian Succession. Manuscript DS, signed “Anson,” one page, 9.25 x 2.75, January 8, 1753. A payment receipt issued to "The Lord Parker & the Hon'ble Chas. Yorke," which is signed by Anson as the First Lord of the Admiralty. In fine condition, with scattered light foxing, and minor loss to the right edge.
