Description

Extremely influential French chemist (1743-1794) noted for his discovery of the role oxygen plays in combustion; he was executed by guillotine during the French Revolution due to his involvement with the deeply unpopular Ferme Générale. ALS in French, signed “Lavoisier,” one page, 6.5 x 8.25, March 23, 1791. Letter concerning the details of some payments. In fine condition. Lavoisier is uncommon in in this format, as most of his letters were written in another hand.
