Signed book: Simple Speaks His Mind. Second printing. NY: Simon and Schuster, 1950. Softcover, 5.5 x 8, 231 pages. Signed and inscribed on the first free end page in fountain pen, "For Ivan—these tales of Harlem—Sincerely—Langston, New York, April 9, 1952." In good to very good condition, with the signed page neatly detached along the edge, pages toned and brittle, and binding somewhat loose; the front cover makes note of the "thinner paper" used in this issue, which allowed it to be sold for $1.
