Letter to Mrs. Roberts, in full: “I avail myself of the first leisure moment which I have experienced since the receipt of your letter of the 1 inst. To return to you my thanks for the kind expressions which it conveys, and to assure you that both to yourself and Mr. Roberts I reciprocate them most cordially. For him I have always entertained the highest respect which nothing has serv’d in the least to diminish—in devolving upon him the responsible station which he fills, I had entire confidence, that its duties would be discharged in a way honorable to himself, and beneficial to the country. I pray you madam to accept assurances of my great respect, as well as of my wishes for your health, happiness and long life." In very good to fine condition, with light creasing, toning from prior display, and professional repairs to tears and paper loss.
