In this letter as Postmaster General, he informs Colonel John Neilson that upon Neilson’s recommendation he has awarded Jacob Tallman the postmaster position at New Brunswick, New Jersey. He also encloses a surety bond for Tallman to fill out and when sent back Pickering will issue Tallman his commission. In very good condition, with old tape stains, complete silking to the front, and backing to the reverse.
