Handsome circa 1930s American carbon button broadcast microphone, measuring approximately 25″ tall on a 7.5″ x 7.5″ base. The microphone element is suspended by springs in the center of the attractive cast iron frame. Performers were initially afraid of this technology, so broadcast microphones were made to look like works of art to ease their anxiety. In very good to fine condition, with the cable terminating in a frayed knot.
