Two items: a vintage matte-finish 4.75 x 7 photo of Clay in a head-and-shoulders pose, signed and inscribed in the lower border in black ballpoint, "With best wishes to Mrs. Fox, Lucius D. Clay, Gen. USA (Ret.)"; and a TLS, signed "Lucius D. Clay," one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, March 22, 1977, addressed to Jakie L. Pruett, in full: "The last time I saw President Kennedy and the then Vice President Johnson was at the White House as the Vice President left Washington to fly to Berlin after the erection of the Berlin Wall. Vice President Johnson's visit was a great success in convincing not only the Berliners but the whole world that we would not abandon the City. His address to the Berlin Parliament was outstanding but his real success came in his meeting with the several hundred thousand Berliners who welcomed him. His commanding presence, his sincerity, and his ability to show his concern made those of us who accompanied him very proud indeed." In overall fine condition.
