Two items: a TLS, one page, 8.5 x 5.5, Stanford University letterhead, March 22, 1933, addressed to A. J. Wersbe, less than three weeks after leaving the White House, in full: "I deeply appreciate your letter of March 9. I want you to know that I am grateful for the friendship which animated it. I wish to take this occasion also to express my hope for your prosperity and contentment"; and a vintage matte-finish 7.75 x 9.5 portrait of Herbert Hoover, signed in the lower border in crisp fountain pen, with reverse bearing notation indicating that it was sent to the same recipient as the letter. In overall very good to fine condition, with light show-through at the corners, and a related tear to the lower left corner, from old mounting remnants on the back of the letter. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope.
