Block of wood removed from the mizzenmast of the USS Constitution during her wintering in San Diego, California in 1933; as part of the frigate's 1931-1934 tour of the U.S. coastline, the Constitution frigate underwent repairs in San Diego before making the return voyage to her homeport of Boston, Massachusetts. The block measures 3.25 x 4.75 x .5, features a metal loop for hanging to the top edge, and the front is nailed with a small descriptive plaque: "This block is a part of the mizzenmast of the historic U.S. frigate 'Constitution.'" In fine condition.
