Description

Pentecostal evangelist and media celebrity (1890-1944) in the 1920s and 1930s who became famous for founding the Foursquare Church. McPherson has been noted as a pioneer in the use of modern media, because she used radio to draw on the growing appeal of popular entertainment in North America and incorporated other forms into her weekly sermons at Angelus Temple, one of the first megachurches. Vintage matte-finish 5 x 7 full-length photo of McPherson in her robes, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, "Julian G. Lloyd, best wishes, Aimee Semple McPherson, 2/8/34.” In very good to fine condition, with light overall silvering. From the collection of Dr. Lawrence E. Miller.
