ALS in German, signed “J. Brahms,” one page both sides, 4.25 x 6.75, November 16, 1889 [?]. Letter to Felix Hecht in Mannheim, in part (translated): "Finally here in Ischl I come to thank you for your kind regards. I don't understand your legal subtleties—but I don't fear them either, because I consider you an even better person than a lawyer, which, given your high reputation as such, certainly means a lot. By the way, we are both depicted in the most beautiful way. Just yesterday, something very friendly came to me from Mannheim. A Frankfurt report by W[ilhelm] B[opp] in the new Baden state newspaper. How seldom do you read such things with such serious sympathy and true joy as I have often read the essays by your fellow citizen. But now I greet you most beautifully and your dear guest even more beautifully." In very good to fine condition, with a stain to the top of the first page, and small repairs to fold splits on the second page.
