Description

Founding Father and jurist (1732-1800) whose greatest contribution came as a judge on the Virginia court of appeals and on the U.S. Supreme Court, where he influenced the interpretation of the Constitution in a number of important decisions. ADS signed “John Blair,” one page, 8.25 x 5, August 15, 1792. Promissory note issued to "Mr. John Barnes" for $254.66, with Blair directing the treasurer to "place the same to my account of salary for the quarter ending the 30th day of June last." Signed boldly at the conclusion by Blair. In fine condition. From the collection of Dr. Lawrence E. Miller.
