B. B. King's studio-used Gibson 'Lucille' model electric guitar, serial no. 00335706, played during his session with Mark Knopfler during the recording of the album 'B. B. King & Friends: 80,' signed on the body in silver ink by B.B. King (dated "4-18-05"), Eric Clapton, Van Morrison, Mark Knopfler, Billy Gibbons, Roger Daltrey, Glenn Frey, Sheryl Crow, Gloria Estefan, and Bobby Bland. In fine condition. Accompanied by the original hardshell case, manufacturer's warranty card, King's personally-used guitar pick, and the silver Sharpie used to sign the guitar. Provenance: Bonhams, December 2010, which noted that the signatures were obtained in various recording studios during King's recording sessions: Clapton, Daltrey, Knopfler, and Van Morrison in Olympic Studios, London; the remainder in New York and Los Angeles.
Released in 2005 to celebrate music legend B. B. King's 80th birthday, 'B.B. King & Friends: 80' features a series of duets of classic blues tunes with the signatories on this guitar. Using this guitar during his session with Dire Straits frontman Mark Knopfler, King recorded a rendition of Carl B. Adams's 'All Over Again.' The album hit number one on the blues charts and rose to #45 on the mainstream Billboard 200, then took home the Grammy Award for 'Best Traditional Blues Album.' A truly remarkable studio-used, multi-signed example of King's iconic 'Lucille.'
