Appointing a newspaper to cover the 27th Congress

LS signed “Dan'l Webster,” three pages on two adjoining sheets, 8.25 x 13, April 27, 1843. Official letter to "The Publishers of 'The German in America and The German National Gazette," in part: "The Newspaper now published by you has been selected for publishing the Orders, Resolutions and Laws, except such as are of a private nature, passed during the 3d session of the 27th Congress; and, also, all public Treaties entered into and ratified by the United States, except Indian Treaties; and amendments to the Constitution of the United States." Neatly signed at the conclusion by Secretary of State Webster. In fine condition, with trivial paper loss on the hinge.
