Two items: a semi-glossy 4 x 5.75 cardstock portrait of Pope Benedict XVI as cardinal, signed in the lower border in black ink, "Joseph Card Ratzinger"; and color glossy 4 x 6 postcard of Pope Benedict XVI, signed on the reverse in the lower right corner in black ink by Pope Francis, who signs as Cardinal Bergoglio. In overall fine condition. Accompanied by a mailing envelope, a Christmas card with preprinted signature of Pope Benedict XVI, and a letter of provenance from the original recipient for the Pope Francis signature, which reads, in part: "This picture postcard which displays Pope Benedict XVI, on the reverse contains on the lower right corner an authentic signature of Cardinal Bergoglio…[who] signed this postcard in person at the occasion of the March 2006 cardinal creating consistory on St. Peter's square in Rome."
