Description

Greek-American scientist in space exploration (born 1938) who has contributed to many of the United States' unmanned space exploration programs of the Solar System and has contributed to exploration missions to almost every planet of the Solar System. Three items: a color 11 x 8.5 laserprint photo of Krimigis posing next to the Low-Energy Charged Particle (LECP) instrument, signed and inscribed in the lower border in black ink, "My favorite instrument (LECP) on my favorite spacecraft, Voyage 1 & 2. To America: S. M. Krimigis, Principal Investigator, Voyagers"; an 11 x 8.5 laserprint photo of Krimigis and others looking over charts, signed and inscribed in black ink, "For America, S. M. Krimigis, Principal Investigator, LECP," who writes a caption in the lower border: "Studying data on strip charts, from Voyage 1 at Jupiter, back in March, 1979"; and an ALS signed "S. M. Krimigis," one page, 8.5 x 11, August 7, 2018, addressed to America, in part: "My greatest achievement is my Voyager experiment, the Low Energy Charged Particle…instrument. It has worked flawlessly for 41 years in space, and it's now sending us data from the Galaxy, 13.247 billion miles from Earth (142 times as far as the Sun)…But my most important achievement is that I have built instruments that have been to every planet in the solar system…the only scientist in the world to do so." In overall very fine condition. Accompanied by a personal John Hopkins University business card belonging to Krimigis, who has signed the card in black ink.
