The opportunity was beyond my expectations and I hope that time will prove that it was worthwhile for the country and mankind as well as for myself. This wish will be fulfilled if each of us pauses once in a while and realizes that something different in the eyes of history has occurred during the last decade. Our generation has proved that mankind can evolve into the universe if this is its desire. When the troublesome problems of the present are long forgotten, this, I believe, will be the legacy we leave to the future."
