Description

Prince commits to play "The Kid" in Purple Rain

Desirable DS, signed "Prince Rogers Nelson," ten total pages, 8.5 x 11, October 28, 1983. Employment lending agreement between Water productions and PRN Music Corporation, in which Prince agrees to play the role of "The Kid" in the tentatively titled picture "Purple Rain." Signed on the second page in black ballpoint by Prince. Includes the eight-page employment agreement detailing additional terms and requirements, signed at the conclusion by Water Production's executive Fred Moultrie. In fine condition. Accompanied by an unsigned sheet music booklet for the Purple Rain soundtrack, as well as a full letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA. Purple Rain follows the story of 'The Kid,' the gifted but troubled front man of the pop group The Revolution, who struggles to find love and success at Minneapolis' competitive First Avenue nightclub. Released a month after his album of the same name, Purple Rain, Prince's feature film debut, proved a rousing commercial success that elevated him into a true international star. Subsequently, Prince became the first singer to simultaneously hold the No. 1 album, single, and film in the US, with Purple Rain receiving the Academy Award for Best Original Score in 1985. An absolutely one-of-a-kind document confirming Prince's commitment to a film that would forever cement his position within the annals of popular music. Pre-certified REAL.
