Official floater-style RIAA gold sales award presented to Don Thorin “to commemorate the sale of more than 1,000,000 copies of the Warner Bros. Records single record ‘Purple Rain.’” Framed with its 45 rpm disc and plate to an overall size of 9.75 x 14.75. Award retains its original backing. In fine condition. Thorin was the cinematographer for the classic 1984 film Purple Rain, and this award was personally given to Thorin by Prince himself. Thorin was a well known director of photography who also shot An Officer and a Gentleman, Against All Odds, Scent of a Woman, and Shaft. A simply remarkable, museum-quality piece of pop memorabilia.
