Rare Westinghouse letter in regard to “automatic brakes”

ALS signed “Geo. Westinghouse, Jr.,” one page, 8.25 x 10.75, Westinghouse Air Brake Co. letterhead, November 24, 1879. Letter to John Newell, president of the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway and the Pittsburg and Lake Erie Railroad, in full: “Unless I hear that you will be absent from Cleveland, I propose calling on you Wednesday morning with reference to automatic brakes.” In fine condition, with several intersecting folds. Between April 1890 and May 1903, Westinghouse patented at least four mechanisms related to fluid pressure automatic brakes. An exceptional handwritten letter from the distinguished Pennsylvania inventor, who remains scarce across all formats. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
