Description

The automotive tycoon receives a “gold-framed engraving showing Detroit in 1846”

TLS, one page, 7.25 x 9.75, personal letterhead, August 12, 1938. Letter to Mr. A. Stainforth of the Boston Antique Shop. In part: “May I extend to you my sincere thanks for the gold-framed engraving showing Detroit in 1846, which you sent as a gift for my seventy-fifth anniversary. This scene is one of special interest to me, and I am pleased to add it to my collection.” In fine condition, with subtle intersecting folds (passing through but not distracting from signature). Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA. An exquisite letter associated with Ford’s two major interests—his development of the Detroit automobile industry and his interest in collecting Americana. RR Auction COA.
