Queen consort of King Alfonso XIII of Spain (1887–1969). Vintage matte-finish 6 x 8 photo of of Victoria Eugenie as queen consort, affixed to 9 x 11.5 mount, signed on the image in blue ink, “Victoria Eugenie, New York, 1936,” and inscribed on the mount, “To Mr. Sappe.” In fine condition. The Spanish royal family had gone into exile following the 1931 elections, hoping that this could avert a civil war. In 1936, the Queen was living in London and went to New York to visit her eldest son, Alfonso, Count of Covadonga, where he was hospitalized for hemophilia. A lovely and uncommon portrait.
