American actor (1931–1955) best known for his star turns in three 1950s screen classics: East of Eden, Rebel Without a Cause, and Giant. His untimely death in a high-speed car crash elevated him to the status of Hollywood legend. Fantastic vintage glossy 8.25 x 10 Floyd McCarthy photo of Dean casting a sideways gaze in Rebel Without a Cause, signed and inscribed in purple fountain pen, “To Dorothy, My sincere wishes, James Dean.” In fine condition, with bottom left and upper left corner creases, faint vertical bend, some surface impressions, and tiny scratches touching his facial area. The few flaws do nothing to detract from the spectacular image or bold signature. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the James Dean Memorial Gallery in Fairmount, Indiana. Signed photos of Dean are of the utmost scarcity, and this iconic pose is one of the finest we have ever encountered. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
