The former Yale first baseman asks Cubs great Milt Pappas to join the war on drugs

TLS as president, one page, 6.75 x 8.75, White House letterhead, September 29, 1989. Bush writes to Milt Pappas in Wheaton, Illinois. In part: “I appreciate your offer of help with the war on drugs, and if there is some way we can get you involved nationally, we’ll be in touch. I’m sure there is much you can do with young people right there in Chicago….” Archivally double matted and framed with an ink signature, “George Bush,” on an off-white card on which is printed “The White House, Washington,” a color portrait of Bush and a name plaque to an overall size of 17 x 15.5. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Pappas. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
