Empress of Russia, 1762–96. She murdered her husband, Peter III, and proclaimed herself Czarina in 1762. Ornate DS on vellum, in Russian, signed (in Russian) “Ekaterina,” one page, 15.25 x 10, 1790. Catherine signs a commission for Peter Bushurlin. In very good condition, with scattered light toning and foxing, some heavy folds and wrinkles consistent with vellum documents, the beginning of Catherine’s signature a shade or two light, but completely legible, and red wax remnants from the missing seal.
