German-born automotive manufacturer (1877–1932). TLS signed “F. S. Duesenberg,” one page, 8.25 x 10.75, Duesenberg, Inc. letterhead, November 28, 1927. Duesenberg writes to Carl Breer at the Chrysler Motor Car Company. In part: “Recently someone mentioned to me that you were building a vibration dampener into your crankshaft that has as a medium between the floating ring and the shaft a layer of zinc oxide. It seems that we will probably have to use some means to smooth out the rough spots and are just wondering if this is a development that was brought out by you people and whether you have the exclusive right. If this means is exceptionally effective and cheap to build we might be interested in making some arrangements to use same if such a thing is possible…. I personally was rather fearful that the action of oil and heat on anything that had rubber in it might be short-lived unless some compound was produced that would withstand the heat and oil action….” Intersecting mailing folds (vertical fold to signature), paperclip impression, and marginal crease, otherwise fine condition.
