Franking signature, “James Madison,” on a 6.25 x 3.25 (panel size) postal cover addressed in another hand to Joseph H. Daviess [sic], U.S. District Attorney in Lexington, Kentucky, bearing the notation “Department of State,” a Washington City postmark, and “FREE” ink stamp. Intersecting folds (two vertical folds with associated light soiling) and light wrinkling, otherwise fine condition. The signature is clean, dark, and unaffected by any faults.
