Signer of the Declaration of Independence from Maryland (1737–1832) who was the last survivor among his colleagues. ANS signed “Charles Carroll of Carrollton,” one page, 7 x 3, December 6, 1828. Carroll writes to an unnamed recipient. In full: “Admired [illegible], friend of civil & religious liberty, I esteem your virtues, and actuated by the same feelings shall I be deemed arrogant by placing the name under yours of….” Accompanied by an antique portrait engraving.
