Vintage oversized pearl-finish 11 x 14 photo, the reverse bearing the ink stamp of Life magazine, the date May 2, 1961, and the handwritten photographer’s name (in pencil) “R. Morse,” depicting the casually dressed Mercury 7 astronauts gathered around a capsule, signed in various inks by all seven: Walter W. Schirra, Jr., Leroy B. Cooper, Jr., M. Scott Carpenter, Alan B. Shepard, Virgil I. Grissom, Donald K. Slayton, and John A. Glenn, Jr. A few creases (one touching feet of Grissom and Shepard), mild soiling and staining, scattered light surface marks and impressions, and Cooper’s and Shepard’s signatures a shade light but fully legible, none of the faults materially detracting from the overall visual impact, otherwise fine condition.
