Busier than ever following his presidency

LS, signed “Benjamin Harrison,” two pages, 4.75 x 7.75, personal letterhead, November 7, 1895. Harrison writes to H. M. West in Schenectady. In part: “I have been so engaged in a case in the Supreme Court of the state here and another in the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals at Chicago that my mail has necessarily been unattended to. I beg to thank you for your invitation to meet with the brethren of the Phi Delta Theta, at their banquet…. Though the time is now past, I write to acknowledge your courtesy and to express my regret….” Light scattered soiling, mild handling wear, and short edge separation at mailing fold, otherwise fine condition.
