Partly printed DS as president, signed “James Madison,” one page on vellum, 10.25 x 14.75, October 30, 1810. A scalloped-top ship's papers for the brig Alexander of Newburyport, issued to master or commander William S. Picket. Countersigned by R[obert] Smith as Secretary of State. In good condition, with intersecting folds (very faint fold between first and last names), scattered soiling with a few spots, remnants from seal removal, and slight marginal trimming.
