Partly printed DS as president, signed “Th: Jefferson,” one page on vellum, 10.25 x 15.5, January 20, 1807. A scalloped-top ship's papers for the brig Bedford of New Bedford, issued to master or commander Joseph Dunbar. Countersigned by James Madison as Secretary of State. The embossed paper seal remains intact at lower left. In very good condition, with intersecting folds (away from signature), scattered soiling and a faint stain to lighthouse vignette, usual subtly irregular ink adhesion due to Jefferson's fine quill, and Madison's signature quite light but legible. The signature is otherwise clear, clean, and unaffected by any faults. Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
