Description

From the pump to the presidency

TLS, one page, 7 x 9, vice-presidential letterhead, February 3, 1955. Nixon writes to Louis Glantz in Flushing, New York. In full: “This is just a note to thank you for your recent letter asking if my father ever owned a service station and if I worked in that station. When my parents first moved to Whittier, California, my father did own and operate a service station and sold it later to go into the grocery store business. He has now retired from business but my brother now has a market on the original site of the store. You may be sure that I have ‘pumped’ gas many a time for my father in his station and others as well….” In good condition, with allover light staining and soiling, a few creases and wrinkles, and light, unobtrusive mark touching first name. The signature is otherwise bold and clear. Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
