From an unexpected source: LBJ thanks a university president for his “expression of support for the effort for peace in Vietnam”

TLS as president, one page, 6.75 x 8.75, White House letterhead, January 15, 1966. LBJ writes to Arthur Flemming, president of the University of Oregon. In full: “This brings my warm thanks for your letter of January 6, with its encouraging expression of support for the effort for peace in Vietnam which is now going forward. Support like yours is heartening, and a real help.” Folds and secretarial ink stamp to reverse lightly showing through blank portion, otherwise fine condition.
