Description

Bad company: Personal items from the “other” female member of the Bonnie and Clyde Gang

Blanche Barrow Frasure (1911–1988) was the third wife of Marvin “Buck” Barrow, Clyde Barrow’s brother, and herself a member of the infamous Barrow Gang. In the 1930s she served six years in prison for her involvement in a fatal shoot out. After her release from prison, she went “straight,” remarried, and lived a quiet life until her death at the age of 77. For her portrayal of Blanche in the screen classic Bonnie and Clyde, Estelle Parsons won the 1968 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Group of 13 items owned by Blanche and originating from her estate, including: three signed credit and membership cards (one with two trimmed edges); a jade bangle bracelet; three stickpins; two cloth change purses; two china figurines of children; and two unsigned Reader’s Digest Condensed Books with Blanche’s ink ownership stamp. Accompanied by signed statement of authenticity from Lorraine Weiser, executrix of the Blance Barrow Frasure estate. In fine condition. R&R COA.
