Description

A week after losing the presidential election as the Progressive candidate, Roosevelt invokes “this great fight for elementary justice and decency”

TLS signed “T. Roosevelt,” one page, 6.75 x 7.5, The Outlook letterhead, November 12, 1912. Roosevelt writes to Henry M. Wallace. In full: “In this great fight for elementary justice and decency, for fair play in the industrial no less than in the political world, and for honesty everywhere, there are many men and women to whom I feel particularly grateful, not only personally but because of what they have done for the people as a whole. You come high among these men, and in this very inadequate but very far from perfunctory manner I wish to express my profound acknowledgement.” In fine condition, with a hint of very subtle soiling. LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
