Partially printed DS, one page on vellum, 10 x 15.75, January 21, 1812. A scalloped-top ship’s pass issued to Job Northrup, master or commander of the schooner Grace Ann Green of New York, “mounted with two guns, navigated with twelve men,” signed by Madison as President and by Monroe as Secretary of State. In very good condition, with usual light rippling, folds (one through both signatures), scattered soiling, and Madison’s signature just a shade light, though Monroe’s is particularly bold.
