Description

America’s newest crop of astronauts, including one future moon walker, look forward to their futures, “We nine new astronauts, along with the nation’s original seven astronauts, will compose the flight crews for the Gemini and Apollo missions.”

Lot of five single page TLSs, all 8 x 10.5, all dated January 22, 1963, on NASA letterhead. Newly appointed astronauts Frank Borman, Charles Conrad, James Lovell, James McDivitt and Tom Stafford write to a young lady who offered congratulations to the new astronauts, and all include glossy 4 x 5 photos, all with pre-printed signatures, with Borman adding his own signature to his photo as well. A small selection of Stafford’s letter reads, in part, “We nine new astronauts, along with the nation’s original seven astronauts, will compose the flight crews for the Gemini and Apollo missions. Process of selection will remain the same as for past flights.” In fine condition, with expected mailing folds and some scattered toning to letters, not affecting legibility or signatures. COA Scott Cornish and R&R COA.
