Rare vintage matte-finish 9.75 x 7.75 photo of Roosevelt seated in a wicker chair by photographer Margaret DeMotte Brown, signed in the lower border in fountain pen as president, "Franklin Delano Roosevelt, 1937." Brown's signature is just slightly visible above Roosevelt's. In very good condition, with overall rippling, light silvering to the darker areas of the image, small stains in the border, and the signature a couple of shades light. Margaret DeMotte Brown arrived in Poughkeepsie in 1917 and set up a successful, professional photographic practice, becoming close to the Roosevelt family. She was a favored photographer of President Roosevelt, and his mother, Sara Delano Roosevelt. According to our records, this is the first item we've ever offered to feature Roosevelt signing his full given name.
