World War II-dated TLS as president, one page, 7 x 8.75, White House letterhead, May 7, 1945. Letter to Lucy M. Taggart, in full: "Your thoughtfulness in writing to me as you did is deeply appreciated. My warmest thanks for your expression of confidence. Best wishes to you and Tom." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original White House mailing envelope. A decidedly early letter from President Truman, who was sworn into office just 25 days earlier.
