Magnificent color 37.75 x 26 poster of an “Astronaut Chart” for the Mercury program, published by C. S. Hammond & Co. in the 1960s, signed in the lower border next to their respective portraits in ink or ballpoint by six of the seven astronauts: “M. Scott Carpenter,” “Leroy G. Cooper, Jr.," "J. H. Glenn, Jr.," "Virgil I. Grissom," "Walter M. Schirra, Jr.,” and “D. K. Slayton.” The Shepard signature is secretarial. The poster features an array of attractive images and artistic designs related to all aspects of a successful Mercury mission. The poster is housed in a protective Mylar sleeve and was de-acidified, or made PH neutral, by the Archival Conservation Center in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1995. In very good condition, with professional backing and restoration to areas of paper loss at the edges and corners, several old tape stains, and dampstaining at the bottom which affects several images, but none of the signatures.
