(Walt Disney Studios, 1951) Lovely original concept storyboard painting by Mary Blair for Alice in Wonderland, which depicts Alice making her through the giant daisies of Wonderland, a scene reminiscent of the sequence where Alice encounters a garden of large flowers that, while initially inviting, soon determine her a weed and force her to leave. The bright stems and petals of the massive daisies dominate the painting, with Alice, a ladybug, and a spider making up the other inhabitants, and the dark background adding an element of danger often found when traversing Wonderland. Accomplished in tempera and watercolor on a 10 x9 illustration board. In fine condition, with trivial scuffing and tack holes to corners.
Blair was a concept artist for Disney during the 1940s and early 1950s, working on designs for such films as Peter Pan, Cinderella, and Alice in Wonderland. She also created designs for several Disney attractions, including It's a Small World and, her largest work ever, the multi-story mosaic in Disney World's Contemporary Hotel concourse.
