Description

Prominent American explorer, military officer, and politician (1813-1890) who mapped the Oregon Trail, played a prominent part in conquering California during the Mexican War, and ran in 1856 as the first Republican presidential candidate. Partly-printed DS, signed “Fremont & Morton, by J. C. Fremont, duly authorized in the premises,” one page, 10.5 x 5.75, March 1, 1872. Stock certificate for one hundred shares of the Cincinnati Railway Tunnel Company issued to "Mess. Fremont & Morton," entitling them to dividends of profits at the rate of eight percent annually. Boldly endorsed on the reverse by Fremont. The certificate features a beautiful vignette of the Cincinnati landscape. In fine condition.
