Inventor, biochemist, and microbiologist (1888-1973) who discovered streptomycin, the first antibiotic effective against tuberculosis, and was awarded the 1952 Nobel Prize in Medicine. Two photos: a glossy 5 x 7 photo of Waksman in a pleasant front-facing pose, signed in the lower border in blue ballpoint, "Selman A. Waksman"; and a 4.5 x 6.5 paperstock photo of Waksman inspecting a formula bottle in his lab, signed on the mat in ballpoint, "With best wishes from Selman A. Waksman, July 10, 1972." The latter photo is housed in its original display folder. In overall fine condition.
