Exceptional vintage glossy 10 x 8 Universal publicity photo of Karloff as Dr. Ernest Sovac in the 1940 film Black Friday, signed in fountain pen. A typed notation on the reverse indicates that the signature was obtained in person at Thalheimer's Department Store on January 5, 1943, during a War Stamp drive. Light scattered creases and soiling (most noticeable in the borders), and a few tack holes to borders, otherwise fine condition. A highly desirable photo from one of the great mad-scientist films of the era.
