Uncommon group lot of 11 items signed by an athlete who competed in an Olympiad prior to World War I, with the majority signing on the reverse of individual 3.5 x 2 business cards belonging to Isidor ‘Jack’ Niflot, an American wrestler who won a gold medal at the St. Louis 1904 Summer Olympics. Athletes include: Gerald Ames (1880-1933), British fencer who competed in the individual épée event at the Stockholm 1912 Summer Olympics (signed photo); Frank Bornamann (1877-1946), American diver and swimmer who competed at the Athens 1906 Intercalated Games; William David Eaton (1882-1953), American runner in the 100-meter race at the Athens 1906 Intercalated Games; Robert Fowler (1882-1957) Newfoundland-born runner in the marathon at the St. Louis 1904 Summer Olympics and Athens 1906 Intercalated Games; Dick Grant (1870-1958), Canadian runner in the marathon at the Paris 1900 Summer Olympics (ALS); Fritz Nicolai (1879-1946), German diver who competed in the Athens 1906 Intercalated Games and in the London 1908 Summer Olympics (signed postcard); William Remington (1879-1963), American track and field athlete who competed at the Paris 1900 Summer Olympics; William Schick (1881-1937), American runner in the 100-meter race at the Athens 1906 Intercalated Games; Joseph Spencer (1880-1963), American swimmer who competed at the Athens 1906 Intercalated Games; Daniel Sullivan, American wrestler and pentathlon athlete who competed at the Athens 1906 Intercalated Games; and Charles Waldstein (1856 -1927), Anglo-American competitor in the 200-meter military rifle event at the Athens 1896 Summer Olympics (ALS).
