Description

Original semi-glossy 8.5 x 6 silver gelatin press photo taken during the Concert for Bangladesh, which happened at Madison Square Garden in New York City on August 1, 1971. The image depicts George Harrison, Leon Russell, and Bob Dylan performing during the latter's five song mini-set, which included 'A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall,' 'Blowin' in the Wind,' 'It Takes a Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry,' 'Love Minus Zero/No Limit,' and 'Just Like a Woman.' Reverse bears a KLN Photos credit stamp. In fine condition, with some small creases and surface impressions.

The Concert for Bangladesh, a pair of benefit concerts organized by Harrison and sitar master Ravi Shankar, were held at NYC's Madison Square Garden on August 1, 1971. They were attended by over 40,000 people and raised over $250,000 for Bangladesh relief, funds designed to assist refugees from East Pakistan following the Bangladesh Liberation War-related genocide. Although Ringo Starr was the only other Beatle to attend, the concerts included many willing and legendary musicians, including Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Billy Preston, Leon Russell, and Badfinger.

From the Tony Glover Collection.
