The Secret Policeman's Ball is the name informally used for the long-running series of benefit shows staged initially in the United Kingdom to raise funds for the human rights organization Amnesty International. The Secret Policeman's Third Ball marked the return of the event after a six-year hiatus, with a retooled show format that would give equal emphasis to comedy and music. The line-up of musicians included: Bob Geldof, Peter Gabriel, Jackson Browne, Lou Reed, Kate Bush, David Gilmour, Mark Knopfler, Joan Armatrading, Chet Atkins, World Party, and Duran Duran.
