Confederate military officer and politician (1818-1902) who replaced J. E. B. Stuart as Lee's Chief of Cavalry following Stuart's death on the battlefield. Ink signature, "Wade Hampton, Col. Com. Legion,” on a light blue 3 x .75 slip. Matted and framed with a portrait to an overall size of 10.5 x 15. In fine condition, with the signature a bit light but fully legible, and wear to the frame.
