Actor and soldier (1908-1944) best known as the first actor to portray The Lone Ranger on film. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and participated in combat on several Pacific Islands; Powell tragically died after he drank poisoned sake following a victory on Tinian Island. Scarce vintage pencil signature, "Hi Yo Silver! Lee Lone Ranger Powell,” on an off-white 5.25 x 2.25 irregularly trimmed sheet. In very good to fine condition, with two clipped areas that reveal the black background to which the signature is affixed.
